Current status: hiding I’m bed with a pillow over my head. What good is getting off work early just to have a migraine try to sneak its way in? I already took everything but my imitrex, so I don’t know what else to do. :(

That’s me. I’m so pale I glow in the dark… Doesn’t help that I’m nocturnal. I’m pretty sure I’d make a good non-sparkle vampire.
Yeah, I’m crazy pale myself, but my dad’s family has a lot of Native American roots (according to him, his father was “half-blood” but I don’t have any memories of my grandad and my dad never mentioned anything beyond that) so I get kind of sallow when I’m pale. My brother is technically a half-brother, though, and so he got ALL the stereotypically ginger traits from both our mom’s family and his dad’s family. (Every male in my mom’s family was a red head that I know of, all but two of the men and both women in his dad’s family as well.)
Okay, I joke about being so pale that I’m reflective/translucent/etc, but damn. My brother is the whitest of the white boys. O.O

OTP: I enjoy Shakarian, but it’s not what I plan for my own saves so… I don’t know. If they’re left alone, he and Tali hook up, don’t they? I think I’d like them together.

Brian: Weird. Isabela was knocked out and dragged by one leg out of the brothel (apparently no one found this out of the ordinary). While I gather an elite fighting force to track her down Fenris wants to have a sit down and talk about extended family. Anders didn’t want any part of the quest (much like Isabela entering the Qunari area), and Merrill wants to get back to her roots in the Alienage. I guess what I’m saying is they have some weird priorities; but hey, Varric still loves her.

New Head Canon: When Ria finally notices that people have been whispering about putting her name forward as the next Viscount, she sets Varric and Isabela to start spreading “could you imagine if…?” stories where Viscount Hawke does stupid stuff like enforcing strict Orlesian hat dress codes and such for entrance to the Keep and any other absurdities they can think of to try and dissuade the nobles from seriously considering her as a candidate.

Helen is related to Eleanor. Elen for the former and Nell for the latter were used in the past. Just a thought.

Well, there’s Eleni and Elena going back tothe greek with variations Alina and Alena. Definitely not Irish or French - more common in central and eastern europe
I’d offer Elayne, which is a second or third cousin kind of name to Eleanor/Helen - but that’s my Melysande’s middle name and she’s not good at sharing that sort of thing. :-) In fact, she doesn’t mention it very often outside of the family.
I know an Eleni, so that one’s out. :( Wiki claims that another possible source for the name Helen is Selene, and if I can find decent justification for that I might go with variations on that instead.
ETA: I’m just going to go with Elissa Elena, I think. I didn’t really want to use one with an E, because initials, but it’s what sounds best. I’d change it to Alena, but that looks to me like the middle syllable would be more of a hard E sound than an A one. :/

I like Ilena. Selene could be good too, although it might sound too much like Celene aka Empress of Orlais?
Yeah, if I decide before writing up the scene to go with something other than Ilena, then it wouldn’t actually be Selene but a derivative of it. Ilena and other Helen-based-derivatives are best, though, because the Orlesian alias she uses is Hélène (of Val Chevin) and I want it to be that she got that name based on her middle/second name.
I just learned that Vin Diesel taught Judi Dench how to play Dungeons and Dragons and now she DMs for her grandchildren and I feel better about the world in general.
OMG can you imagine having her as a DM? Especially if she’s doing it for her grandchildren, she probably wears some awesome cloak and does all sorts of voices for the NPCs they’re talking to and everything. O.O
