Dalish burn their dead too, so yep, Nevarra it is.
I haven’t gone through enough Dalish storyline recently to remember that, good to know!

OMG YES! And dwarves, too. They don’t burn their dead.
But can dwarven corpses be possessed? I honestly can’t remember if whatever blocks magic from dwarves is a physical change or a spiritual one that would be gone when the dwarf dies.
Now that’ll be a pretty interesting campaign. It’ll be like Redcliff but on a massive scale.

serindrana wrote an AU of The Mummy set in Nevarra (f!Amell/Nathaniel). I’ve only read part of it so far, but it promises to be fun and charming, much like the movie. :)
I knew there was a Dragon Age/The Mummy AU being written, but didn’t know it took place in Nevarra. Or are there more than one? *laughs* Either way, if it captures the feel of the movie, Nate as Rick is going to be priceless. :p
RANDOM DA THOUGHT
Most Andrastians burn their dead, partially (though not entirely) to prevent corpses from being possessed. If I remember right, though, Nevarrans build elaborate tombs & bury their dead.
So anyway, my random thought was: I wonder if there’s any zombie apocalypse style fic taking place in Nevarra, and if there isn’t any yet, then there needs to be.

I’m technically doing better, but on the surface that’s not really visible yet. I let my doc put me back on an antidepressant, but the first few weeks on this new med come with mega side effects. Mostly, I’m nauseated 24/7, so while I’ve lost weight, I’m also sleeping even more than before because of the phenergan I take to keep from getting sick. So, less online time. :/
Also, I’m extremely frustrated by my Big Bang story.
Today has been a fail day—haven’t even turned on either computer, not even to write. Just can’t focus. :/

more clarifications
We’ve had a few more good questions asked, so here - for everyone’s benefit, a few more rule/guideline clarifications!
Start Date For Writing: There isn’t one! Start writing whenever you get inspired to do so! This isn’t like NaNoWriMo - we’re not expecting you to write your 10,000 or 20,000 words in a specific month. So long as you hit the deadlines, you can start writing as early - or as late - as you want!
Defining ‘Story’: Someone asked about whether a series of vignettes would count as a big bang story. The answer is … it depends. The biggest thing we’re looking for here is an overarching plot/theme connecting the whole thing together. So, for example, a series of stories that have no connection other than that they take place during the course of DA2 wouldn’t qualify. However, you could write a whole series of smaller scenes about what different characters are doing during the Qunari invasion of Kirkwall. Or a series of scenes that tell the story of how Hawke and Fenris awkwardly dance around each other between their night together and their reunion in act 3. (As long as it adds up to the appropriate number of words, of course!) There needs to be a connecting thread that isn’t simply “this all takes place in the Dragon Age universe.” The purpose is to write something that connects together, a larger work that people can enjoy as a whole.
Original/Crossover Characters: Just to reiterate, our policy on original characters is, per the FAQ: We encourage you to write about your custom Wardens and Hawkes! But any other original character must be secondary/background. Your main focus must be on characters that exist in canon, including Wardens and Hawkes. And, for crossover characters: Just make sure that Dragon Age characters are the main focus of your story - ie, if you are writing a crossover with Mass Effect, your main character/pairing must be from the DA universe.
We’ve had some questions about the specific ways original and crossover characters can and can’t be used in your big bang story. It’s probably easier, I think, to give examples than to try to describe all the different types of situations we might run across.
Acceptable: You’re writing a Hawke/Aveline story, and you create an original character to be a guardsman that Aveline talks to about work and her relationship.
Not acceptable: You’re writing a story in which Aveline is paired with the OC.
Acceptable: You’re writing a story in which Nathaniel and Sigrun travel to the Anderfels to visit Weisshaupt, and they interact with your original character Wardens along the way.
Not acceptable: You’re writing a story about your original character Warden’s life at Weisshaupt.
Acceptable: You have a Cousland Warden you’ve based on Emma Swan from Once Upon A Time.
Not acceptable: You’ve made Emma Swan the Warden, with her canonical background from OUAT.
Acceptable: You’re writing a Harry Potter crossover in which Anders takes a class from Professor Snape.
Not acceptable: You’re writing an HP crossover in which Anders is paired with Snape.
There are a couple of reasons why we’re insisting on canon DA characters as your focus. First, because the DA universe is bursting with amazing characters, both major and minor, and one of our main goals in creating this challenge was to get a bunch of great fics out there about the characters we love! But second, we also want to make it easier on our artists. All artists who sign up for this Big Bang are obviously knowledgeable about and excited to work with characters from the DA universe! We want them to be able to work with characters they already have some familiarity with.
Custom Hawkes and Wardens are acceptable because they’ll all have familiar character histories. We all know what happened to the Hawkes, and the Couslands, and Mahariel’s Dalish tribe. That gives artists (and readers!) a basis to work from, rather than having to familiarize themselves with a completely new character.
Not that we don’t love crossover pairings and original characters! They’re just not what we’re going for in this particular challenge. If you really love these things, though, and want to use them in a big bang, we encourage you to check out Crossover Big Bang and Original Character Big Bang, both of which are multifandom challenges!
