This is one of my most favorite Aveline exchanges in the game. Because it is the start of showing how the Hawke’s have sort of wormed their way into Aveline’s heart.
More Aveline! Excuse the Aveline spam. Before putting my short comic about M!Hawke/Aveline together, I’m trying to work out how to draw her. I find her features somewhat difficult to capture.
This is off topic, but drawing her freckles brought back some memories of my time working in advertising several years ago. One of my projects was for a cosmetics company. When we presented the rough edit of a TV commercial, our client pointed out, “She has freckles. She’s supposed to be beautiful. Beautiful women don’t have freckles.”
It was so blatant, I thought he was joking. He wasn’t. The entire TVC was retouched so that the woman would appear freckle free with flawless milky white skin. Sometimes I wish I had said something that day, but I needed my paycheck. *Sigh* Things we do for money.

Reblogging for quality tags, because yes. Possibly my favorite aspect of Aveline’s personality—her belief that people should be free to choose for themselves, and that their actions and reactions are their own. And given the extent to which Hawke & company are blindsided by circumstances beyond their control, I especially value Aveline’s perspective. Which seems to be, essentially, control the things you can.
