DRAGON AGE II: 31 DAY HAWKE CHALLENGE - DAY 19
Day 19: Viscount - Answering to Templars.[[MORE]]
What did your Hawke think of the Viscount?: ...
The exact moment Jorah’s heart breaks.
Isabela is the best friend ever ok.
Even though some DA fans are already having trouble naming their Inquisitor, we all know what kind of personality our player...
Game of Thrones Esmestair. (With bonus banter, because that’s what they do.)
Alistair: What kind of fur is this? It doesn’t look very… Fereldan.
Esme: And it smells funny. Or is that your socks?
Alistair: Ha ha. Those socks jokes? Getting old.
Esme: Fine. It smells funny. Is that cheese in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
Alistair: A cheese joke? A cheese joke that doesn’t even make sense… I am disappoint.
Esme: “I am disappoint”? Oooh, look at Mr I-saw-it-on-Tumblr!
Alistair: *wistful* Mmmm… Tumbling.
Esme: Tumbl-ER, not tumbl-ING! Though… if we have the time, a tumble would be nice.
Alistair: It has been a while…
Esme: At least an hour.
*fade to black and cue the kissy noises*
Alistair: Wait… what is wrong with your mouth? It feels… funny. Maker, it LOOKS funny!
Esme: *looks in mirror* It’s all small, and smirky… WHAT DID SHE DO TO ME?????
She Who Controls the Mouse: I gave you the Natalie Dormer mouth, Esme. She reminds me of you, sometimes. Don’t you like it?
Esme: NO! Alistair likes my generous lips, and he says my mouth is pretty, too!
She Who Controls the Mouse: …
Alistair: *facepalm*
She Who Controls the Mouse: Nope. Not going to touch that with a ten-foot-pole.
Alistair: There are times I wish I’d had that much self-control.
I have to admit, Esme, I was picturing the Natalie Dorner mouth for you done in this style as well. KH knows what she’s doing, you should probably trust her about these things. ^_~

Modern Mucha Esme, in all her knock-kneed glory. I thought she’d be a perfect fit for the flowiing, diaphanous, ruffles and pretty, but most of it didn’t look right for her… I think she wants stronger colours. This one didn’t make me want to cry, though, so here it is.
Yeah, that one’s hard. The Moira ones looked good, but my Elissa one was trouble.
Dollmakers are one of the things I fail at, as a rule, but here’s some Jessica Rabbit Esme that isn’t too bad. (The outfit is an approximation of her special green ‘Bethany apostate’ robes.)
*flails* She’s gorgeous!
Final shots of KH’s Esme Amell in her two new robe tints! The only difference between each column should be the sash color, with a grayer-green on the left and brown on the right. And as an added bonus, a close-up of Esme with her hair down (and her eye textures and color properly installed this time) in the green version of the above:

I hope you and Esme love the new tints, KH! <3
- This was the most recent “starting point” before editing the sash (and I just remembered, the strip of cloth between the collar and the bodice as well).
- Slightly greyer toned sash
- Slightly bluer sash
- Brown sash
Personally, I think #3 is actually closer to the original concept art than the “concept art tint” that came with the robe, and with KH’s permission (since this is being done at her request) I may borrow that for Vrania, if that one isn’t KH’s final choice. Otherwise, I love #2 but think #4 is better for Esme’s coloring.
Let me know how it looks with your settings (I know you mentioned your system is set to emphasize darks, I think it was?). :)
I LOVE both #2 and #4. Let me sleep on it. (As visions of concept are robes danced in her head…)
I can send both if necessary; Ash got three versions of her Phoenix Matriarch tint, and I had what, two official versions of the Battlemaiden for Moira, plus the steel/leather and the Shangrilla Jade? Just let me know when you’re ready; I’m going to save for the night and do the lighting tests on both #s 2 & 4 tomorrow sometime so you have those to judge as well. :)
If it isn’t too much trouble to finesse 2 and 4, I will be greedy and ask for both of them. Because I cannae decide! *grabby hands*
Reblogging for Bren. Everyone else, avert your eyes.
No worries, I’ll finish the lighting and hair tests and shoot those over with the tints themselves tonight!

Updated WIPs for KH’s judging:
- Last night’s final product before breaking for the evening
- Main dress color (G channel) and sash (B channel) swapped, and the G channel darkened slightly
- Current status, with the corset’s reflectiveness tamed a bit and the texture brought out a tiny bit more. Not much more, because then it loses any tiny measure of the metal illusion, but a tiny bit. Also added some reds to the specular color of the G channel, which is supposed to influence highlights, undertones, reflectivity, etc, depending on the material. My computer swears that adding these reds make a difference in the color of the skirt, but my eye can barely see it.
Edit: Ah, looks like I’d already updated the corset when I took the pic for #2 here. But all the comments about the corset in #3 still apply. :p
The G channel (dark green) looks sublime, and is exactly the colour I was hoping for. On my screen, the sheen on the skirt gives the effect of velvet; it’s very tactile and lush. <3
The bodice looks really good too, and I wonder if the illusion of it being “gilded” might be enhanced by either shifting the sash colour from the very clear emerald to a green with a hint of brown, grey, or blue, or by adjusting the value to make it darker than the bodice?
And THANK YOU! <3
Is your screen showing ANY differences between the second and third images? Because when I pull them up in other programs I can see the shift, but in game and in Windows image preview they look identical to me.

Okay, back to the dye kit. Swapped the dress and sash colors on Esme’s robe, and after the darker green that I had on the sash is actually almost the exact shade I was envisioning for the new, darker dress fabric anyway. Going to skip ahead to tweaking the bodice and then I’ll see if the main fabric needs any more updates or not.
(The OP for this project can be found here, with the WIP screen caps as of last night. I’ll post a new batch at the end of tonight, at least; possible in-between batches could get put up if I have some equally-good options for KH to pick from.)
