- Who I hate them with - I don’t hate her with Seifer, but I do dislike it.
- Why I like/hate them - She sees something she wants and she goes for it. She wants a dance? She picks someone and pulls him out to the dance floor. She wants others to have the life she has (which is what I see her little rebellion as ultimately being)? She starts a revolution. She makes her privilege a weapon against others with the same privilege. See below about “least favourite quality” for the backside of this, though?
- Favourite physical feature - Her hair. It’s basically my hair, when mine’s styled. :p
- Least favourite quality in the character - She’s such a brat. I love her, and I forgive her cause she’s just a kid, but such a damn brat. :p
- 3 Headcanons - (1) She knew of Squall before coming to Balamb Garden, and deliberately picked him for that dance specifically to get a reaction from Seifer, who spent a considerable portion of their summer together talking about his grand rival. (2) Terrified of spiders. I can’t remember which story but there’s a scene in a fic I read YEARS AGO where she and Selphie nearly blow up Rinoa’s entire room trying to kill a spider and miss the little monster entirely. Squall thinks that Garden is under attack and runs to make sure everyone’s safe, finds the two girls standing, huddled, on the bed together (the only thing still in one piece, I think) and when he realizes what happens he just busts up laughing. Neither Rinoa nor Selphie both don’t know how to react to a laughing Squall. (3) ?

You know what I’ve kind of always loved? Even as a kid, I read this with a slight teasing tone to Rinoa’s voice. Maybe Irvine told her the exact “landmark” he’d leave, maybe he didn’t. Hell, maybe it was even Rinoa’s idea to use a “naughty” magazine, to try and push Squall’s thoughts away from his daily face-palm worrying. No, it didn’t work, but I can see her doing that. The thing is though, even though the entire game is nice and chaste and Squall and Rinoa don’t even kiss so far as the game tells us until the final battle is over, it’s not showing its female lead as either a “prude” or a “slut” in either case. She sees the mag, and IMO jokes about it, but then the get over it and have their talk. No big deal, because sex just is.
